Being an art lover in Makati is awesome!
Love and Art are things that go hand in hand. How many songs, sculptures, and films have been about love? It’s not surprising, then, that February would be our National Arts Month. This Valentines, why not visit art exhibits and shows with your beloved? This way, you can admire works of art besides each other. If you’re in Makati, here are some art exhibits to consider.
Behold a variety of artworks on display at Yuchengco Museum, be it from traditional artists or contemporary ones. Artifacts and art pieces of the Yuchengo family history can be found there as well. Performances may also be held at this venue, such as the One & A Half Men’s improv show on Feb 21, and the “Puro” circus art skill showcase on Feb 23. The museum is located at RCBC Plaza corner Ayala Avenue and Gil Puyat Avenue.
Vinyl On Vinyl
This is an arts venue that showcases commercial art like vinyl toys and artwork from modern pop culture artists. Vinyl On Vinyl displays different exhibits depending on the month, and this February they have “Art House”. It’s an exhibit curated by Stephanie Formoso, showing the “colorful nature of a home” through paintings and mixed-media installations. Vinyl On Vinyl is located at 2241 Pasilio 18, La Fuerza Compound 1, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati.
As per their website, Fringe MNL is an open access, non-curated, and uncensored arts and community festival. They showcase theatre, literature, music, dance, visual art, and other forms in different venues. This February, they will hold events at the following locations in Makati: Commune, Pineapple Lab, Concepto, and Rockwell. Visit their website for dates and tickets.
Art Fair Philippines
The aim of Art Fair Philippines is to support Filipino artists through showcasing artworks that can be easily accessed by just about anyone. This explains their location in urban venues through the years. From Feb 21 to 23, see the vibrant local art scene reflected in several booths and exhibits. Art Fair Philippines is set at The Link Building, Ayala Center, Makati.
